Video
Formats: .mov,.mpg4: compression: h-264; Mpeg4
Entertainment Short - A digital video whose sole purpose is enjoyment or amusement.(comedy, drama, music video, etc.) No longer than 20 minutes.
Documentary Short - An informative video using video, pictures and/or interviews with people involved with a real event to provide a factual record or report. No longer than 20 minutes.
Animation (2D and 3D) - The manipulation of electronic images by means of computer, in either 2D or 3D space, in order to create the illusion of moving images. No longer than 20 minutes.
Experimental - Any video that does not fit into the above categories. A visual experience that may not have any story or meaning behind its creation. No longer than 20 minutes.
Music
Formats: .mp3, .aff, .wav,
Live Recorded Music - A digital recording in which one or more tracks were recorded from a live instrument or voice.
Programmed Music - Digital music in which all tracks were created within the computer using pre-recorded loops and/or midi tracks. (GarageBand, Acid Pro, etc.)
Art
Formats: 300 dpi (in case of printing), saved as .jpg, .eps, .tif (no layered documents)
Digital Manipulation - Digital image which was created using multiple images which have been manipulated in the computer to create a single image.
Digital Photography - A single image which has been taken by a digital camera and manipulated in computer.
Digital Art - Artwork that has been created within the computer without the visible use of external media.
3D Art - Artwork that has been created in the computer in a 3D space.
Comic Book Art - A panel page of a comic book story showing the versatility and development of character.
Fan Art
- A piece of art based on another person's character, item, costume, or story (ex Batman, Final Fantasy, etc.)
Web Design
Formats: MUST BE ONLINE or mail in on cd or dvd.
Static/hybrid Website - Developed website using any combination of technologies.
Flash - Developed website created entirely in flash and published as a shockwave (.swf) document and html.
Multimedia
Formats: .swf
Presentation - Linear or non-linear presentation that informs, entertains or teaches in an interactive manner.
Gaming - An interactive presentation in which the viewer is rewarded for completing a specified task.
Print
Formats: 300 dpi (in case of printing), saved as .jpeg, .pdf, .eps, .tif,(no layered documents)
Text Art/Logo - A typographic design adopted by an individual or organization to identify its purpose or attitude.
Brochure/Publication - A small multipage publication (at least front and back) which contains pictures and information about a particular product, service or event.
Poster - A large picture, notice or advertisement that would be displayed in a public place.
Packaging - A container in which an object is packaged to sell, display or promote (ex. CD covers, DVD cases, product packaging, shopping bags, etc.).
Advertising - A designed piece that is create to draw attention to a product, service or event in order to promote sales or attendance.
Special Categories
Teacher/Instructor - A digital piece, from the aforementioned categories, created by a current teacher or instructor of a accredited school or college.
Scholarship - A digital piece, from the aforementioned categories, created by a student or non-student who is planning on attending South Plains College and wishes to compete for a scholarship. (Scholarship entries can be entered in additional categories.)
Instructional - Any digital technology that is used to instruct or guide the viewer in the experience of learning.
